Ryan Gosling blames Angry Birds for The Nice Guys 2 snub

Ryan Gosling recently discussed the sequel to 2016’s “The Nice Guys,” expressing disappointment over its outcome.

Gosling attributed the sequel’s fate to its opening box office numbers, citing competition from the successful “Angry Birds” movie. Despite positive reviews, “The Nice Guys” struggled to compete financially, with “Angry Birds” dominating the opening weekend.

Gosling noted the disparity in earnings, with “Angry Birds” garnering $38 million compared to “The Nice Guys'” $11.2 million. Although “The Nice Guys” ultimately earned $62.8 million worldwide against a $50 million budget, it didn’t secure a sequel like its competitor.

Gosling reminisced about the film’s setting and storyline, featuring him alongside Russell Crowe as they investigated a teenage girl’s disappearance in 1977 L.A.

He also mentioned Robert Downey Jr.’s cameo. Gosling’s upcoming project, “The Fall Guy,” sees him portraying a Hollywood stuntman inspired by the 1980s TV series. The film’s release is slated for April 24, showcasing Gosling’s versatility beyond his role in “Barbie,” where he played Ken opposite Margot Robbie’s Barbie in a successful venture directed by Greta Gerwig.
