Sindh introducing modern automated transport system, Sharjeel Memon

Karachi: Minister of Transport Sindh, Sharjeel Memon has announced that the transport sector in Sindh is being linked with a modern automated system.

Addressing the launching ceremony of the automated system in Karachi, Sharjeel Memon stated that modern technology is being utilized to facilitate the public’s travel and the automated system will bring transparency in fare collection.

The Minister of Transport Sindh explained that the delay in the Red Line BRT was due to various reasons including the tender process initiated in 2019, the tender awarded in 2020 subsequent price increases and issues with contractors.

Sharjeel Memon revealed that no progress was made on this during the previous government’s tenure but as soon as our government took charge, work began. This reflects the vision of political leadership and regardless of any challenges, the work will continue.

He mentioned that the Chief Minister of Sindh informed that the trend of red buses was initiated by us, we introduced pink buses for women which are perhaps unique in Pakistan and maybe even the world. This initiative received great acclaim globally as it is aimed at facilitating people.

Sharjeel Memon further disclosed that the province of Sindh ranks at a low number in public-private partnerships in Asia with Pakistan being at twelfth position and Sindh at the third. However, this information dates back 12 years.
