Karachi – Following the rising dengue cases, private laboratories have been ordered to reduce the prices of dengue and malaria tests.
Dengue cases have surged across Sindh with a sharp increase in patients in several cities. So far, 26 people have died across the province with Hyderabad being the worst affected city.
Alongside the rising dengue cases, the high cost of dengue and malaria tests has been a major problem for the public increasing their difficulties.
In response to this alarming situation, the Sindh Health Care Commission (SHCC) issued orders to all private diagnostic laboratories in the province to make dengue and malaria tests more affordable and accessible.
The SHCC also issued a notification instructing all private laboratories in Sindh to reduce the fees for dengue and malaria tests by December 31, 2025. The notification included revised discounted fees and laboratories are required to comply.
The revised test fees are as follows:
- Malaria ICT test: Reduced from PKR 3,050 to PKR 600
- Dengue NS1 test: Reduced from PKR 4,550 to PKR 1,100
- Dengue IgM/Combo test: Reduced from PKR 4,150 to PKR 1,500
- CBC test: Reduced from PKR 1,250 to PKR 500
This move aims to make critical diagnostic tests more affordable for the public amid the ongoing dengue outbreak.
