As India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar celebrates his 51st birthday on Wednesday, social media is abuzz with heartfelt wishes, painting the digital realm with admiration and celebration for the cricketing icon, often hailed as the ‘god of cricket’.
Conferred with the Bharat Ratna in 2014, Tendulkar is a veteran of 15,921 runs in 200 Tests, besides amassing 18,426 runs in 463 ODIs.
A part of the Indian team at ODI World Cups since 1992, Tendulkar fulfilled his ultimate dream of clinching the World Cup in 2011 after missing out on five previous occasions.
Tendulkar holds the record for being the only cricketer to have scored 100 centuries, with 51 coming in Tests and 49 in ODIs.
He retired from ODI cricket in 2012 and bid adieu to all forms of cricket in November 2013 after playing his 200th Test.
His retirement marked the end of an era in Indian cricket, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire aspiring cricketers around the globe.
On his 51st birthday, the sports fraternity extended loads of love and wished Tendulkar good health and happiness.
