Stringent security for Pak-NZ T20 matches

Rawalpindi is preparing for the upcoming Pakistan-New Zealand T20 cricket series with extensive security measures in place.

With matches scheduled for April 18, 20, and 21 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the Rawalpindi Police and City Traffic Police are working diligently to ensure safety and order.

Over 5,500 police officers and personnel will be deployed to oversee security arrangements, including a comprehensive contingency plan for any potential emergencies.

Public transportation, such as the Metro bus service, will be adjusted to facilitate the teams’ movement.

A helipad has been constructed within the stadium premises for aerial operations, and Acting Chief Police Officer Hafiz Kamran Asghar will lead command and control operations.

The stadium area has been divided into zones, with strategic officer placements and rooftop surveillance.

City Traffic Police has developed a specialized traffic plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement, supervised by Chief Traffic Officer Taimoor Khan and Senior Traffic Officer Munir Hashmi.

Temporary road closures and diversions will be implemented.

Access to certain areas, like the food street on Stadium Road, will be restricted until after the matches, and dedicated parking areas with shuttle services will be provided for spectators, who will undergo thorough security checks.

A control room at Shahbaz Sharif Sports Gymnasium will monitor security arrangements 24/7.

The acting CPO reiterated the commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees, stressing the importance of comprehensive security measures for citizens and cricket enthusiasts.
