PTI Chairman Imran Khan has praised the Supreme Court’s decision to deem Dost Muhammad Mazari’s contentious decision regarding the elections for the chief minister of Punjab “illegal” saying the judges “stood firm and upheld the Constitution and law against all manner of threats and abuse”.

On Tuesday, Imran Khan announced that the PTI would give thanks to the Almighty and rejoice with the nation’s citizens who supported their “Haqeeqi Azadi” campaign.

The former prime minister took to Twitter to express his opinion stating, “I appreciate our SC judges for standing firm and upholding the constitution and law, against all manner of threats and abuse. I want to thank Barrister Ali Zafar and his team. I want to thank the people of Punjab for coming out in unprecedented numbers in bye-elections against rigging.”

He further said, “Tomorrow evening we will offer thanks to Allah and celebrate with all the people of Pakistan who have stood by us in our campaign for Haqeeqi Azadi, coming out in massive numbers to show support.”

Vice chairman of PTI, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, addressed the media in the federal capital and referred to the ruling by the Supreme Court as “Pakistan’s victory.”

“The people’s mandate was for these by-elections in Punjab. The people of Punjab had made it very apparent that they had embraced Imran’s story without reservation. We were forced to accept the imported government,” he said.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi stated that the deputy speaker of the Punjab Assembly had disregarded the constitution and the rule of law and requested that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif dissolve the parliament.
