Supreme Court to review appeals on civilian trials in military courts

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court is scheduled to convene a session dedicated to hearing appeals challenging the nullification of trials of civilians conducted in military courts. The session, slated for 11:30 am, will be presided over by a six-member bench, with Justice Aminuddin leading the proceedings.

Accompanying him are esteemed justices including Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Shahid Waheed, Musarat Hilali, and Irfan Saadat Khan.

During the previous hearing, the Supreme Court directed the Attorney General to furnish comprehensive details regarding individuals who had been convicted and sentenced to three years by military courts. Notably, the court had also issued an order for the release of 20 accused individuals who had been sentenced to one year, specifically prior to the Eid festival.

Subsequently, the Attorney General complied with the court’s directive, submitting pertinent information regarding those individuals who had been granted release on Eid-ul-Fitr.
