His father was filmed in tears of joy surrounded by fans who were congratulating him after Pakistan registered their first-ever win over India in a World Cup clash. In a video doing rounds on the Internet, Babar’s father, who was at the stadium, can be seen struggling to control his tears of joy.
All that Babar touched turned into gold on Sunday as the Pakistan captain won the toss and chose to field first. He marshaled his troops well on the field as young pace sensation Shaheen Afridi removed the highly rated Indian openers, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, early in the powerplay and left the team reeling in the powerplay.
Babar was spot on with his bowling changes and Pakistan showcased they were up for the fight with a disciplined effort in the field. Despite a Virat Kohli fifty, India managed just 151/7 in 20 overs.
