Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that there are no backdoor talks for early elections.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, he dismissed reports of talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Asif said that neither there was any backdoor meeting for the elections in March-April nor there was any contact with the PTI.

Defense Minister also said that the new law related to Toshakhana was under consideration. He lamented that leaders like Imran Khan sell gifts in the market.

Khawaja Asif also played a video statement of Imran Khan during the press conference in which the former prime minister said that whoever is disqualified is because he has committed a crime.

He further said that PTI was trying to take credit for getting out of the grey list of the Financial Actions Task Force (FATF) which should be given to him.

He again said that the next general elections will be held according to the law and on time; further that the army chief will be appointed next month.

The Defense Minister said that Chaudhry Pervez Elahi will not be able to support Imran Khan in the coming circumstances. He said that the Punjab Assembly was not going to last long.
