Two cops martyred, two injured in attack on police APC in Tank

Meanwhile, according to sources, police personnel staged a protest at the Tank Police Lines following the incident

Tank: Two police personnel were martyred and two others injured when a police Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) was targeted in a remote controlled bomb attack in Tank district on Monday.

According to police, the APC of Saddar Police Station was on routine patrol along Jandola Road when unidentified militants detonated a roadside remote controlled improvised explosive device (IED) near Masha Jan Korona, hitting the vehicle.

As a result of the blast, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Farid Khan and Constable Akhtar Zaman were martyred on the spot, while two other police personnel sustained injuries. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Following the attack, police and security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the attackers.

Meanwhile, according to sources, police personnel staged a protest at the Tank Police Lines following the incident. The protesters insisted that Regional Police Officer (RPO) Dera Ismail Khan, Ghulam Mubashir Mekan, should personally attend the funeral.

However, after prolonged negotiations with District Police Officer (DPO) Tank, Samad Khan, the protesting policemen called off their protest and agreed to proceed with the funeral prayers and burial of the martyrs without the RPO’s presence.
