Two senior DIGs decline to work with new Islamabad IGP Ali Nasir Rizvi

Two high-ranking officers of the Islamabad Police Department resigned, causing disruption within the department. The Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs), Owais Ahmed and Hasan Raza, quit to protest against the appointment of a “junior officer,” Ali Nasir Rizvi, as the new Inspector General (IG) of Islamabad Police.

The two DIGs, Security and Headquarters, said they couldn’t work under someone less experienced. The dispute arose because the new IG was a junior officer, which caused upset among more senior officers who were passed over.

Reports indicated that this decision led to worries about how junior officers would evaluate senior officers in their Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs), adding to the unease within the department.

Ali Nasir Rizvi, a grade 20 officer from the Police Service of Pakistan, faced a delayed start. His transfer from Punjab to the Establishment Division was held up due to disagreements between the Interior Ministry and Punjab. After 22 days of delay, Rizvi took charge on April 22, following official approval.
