US committed to work for freedom of expression in Pakistan: White House

During a media briefing in Washington on Monday, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller stated that the United States remains committed to promoting freedom of expression in Pakistan. He reiterated that the US will continue to advocate for freedom of expression and uphold the rule of law in the country.

While refraining from commenting on the recent visit of the Saudi foreign minister to Pakistan, Miller mentioned that the US Secretary of State had engaged in discussions with the Saudi FM the previous week regarding de-escalation efforts in the Middle East.

Miller highlighted ongoing efforts to collaborate with Saudi Arabia not only to mitigate immediate tensions but also to foster long-term stability and eventually normalize relations between Saudi Arabia and Israel. This, he emphasized, would contribute to regional peace and security for the years ahead.

Earlier on Monday, a high-level delegation from Saudi Arabia, headed by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, arrived in Pakistan.

The newly-elected government aims to attract significant investments from Saudi Arabia. The delegation includes Saudi officials from various sectors such as water and agriculture, industry and mineral resources, investment, as well as senior representatives from the Ministry of Energy and the Saudi Fund for General Investments.
