World Weightlifting C’ship: Talha Talib wins first medal for Pakistan

Pakistan won the first medal in the World Weightlifting Championship, Olympian Talha Talib performed this feat. At the World Championships in Tashkent, Talha Talib won a bronze medal in the 67kg snatch event by lifting 143kg, Russia’s Zelfat Giro won gold and Uzbek player Dost Yukobov won silver. Talha Talib, unfortunately, could not complete the competition in the clean and jerk event but managed to get his first medal in the world championship. It should be noted that this is the first medal of Pakistan in the history of the World Weightlifting Championship. It may be recalled that Pakistani weightlifter Talha Talib had participated in the Tokyo Olympics and despite inadequate facilities, he remained at the 5th position and won the hearts of the nation with his performance.
