YouTuber Rajab Butt was allegedly assaulted by a group of lawyers during his appearance at a Karachi court. The attack left him seriously injured and resulted in the loss of Rs300,000 in cash, according to his counsel.
The incident occurred at the Additional District and Sessions Court, where Butt was attending bail proceedings. He appeared alongside TikToker Nadeem Mubara in a case linked to a controversial statement. A video of the incident surfaced online, showing Butt with a bloodied mouth and torn clothing, highlighting the severity of the attack.
Butt’s lawyer, Mian Ashfaq Ali, lodged a formal complaint at the City Court Police Station. The complaint was filed under Sections 147, 148, 337-A, 382, and 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code. It names Advocates Riaz Ali Solangi and Abdul Fatah as prime suspects, along with 15 to 20 unidentified lawyers who allegedly participated in the assault.
According to the complaint, Butt was physically attacked inside the court premises. He was reportedly threatened with murder during the incident. The lawyer added that he and other members of his legal team faced harassment while trying to protect their client.
The complaint further alleges that the attackers forcibly took a bag from Butt containing Rs300,000 in cash. Although the bag was later returned, the money was missing. The counsel described this as an unlawful seizure of his client’s property.
The accused lawyers, however, claimed that Butt had made derogatory remarks against them in a vlog after a previous court appearance. They said the YouTuber had stated that the person who filed a case against him “does not seem like a lawyer.”
