After a protracted fight, Russia claimed to have taken control of the devastated eastern town of Soledar on Friday, Ukraine reported on Saturday of a new round of strikes and hits on important infrastructure assets.
After a string of military failures, victory in Soledar would be a rare success for Moscow, notwithstanding Kyiv’s insistence that battle was still going on there.
The infrastructure in Ukraine came under attack once more early on Saturday, according to authorities.
Operator Ukrenergo stated that “the adversary shot at energy facilities again today”, adding that it was attempting to “eliminate the repercussions” of the attacks.
Journalists from AFP have reported having heard numerous explosions in Kyiv while Ukrainian officials have said there had been attacks on a power plant.
Kyiv municipal government has said that there was a strike to an infrastructure facility, without severe destruction or fire.
According to the report, a warehouse caught fire when missile parts dropped nearby but no injuries were recorded in the capital.
Oleg Synegubov, the governor of the northeastern Kharkiv area, said that the adversary conducted another missile strike on important infrastructure and industrial sites.
The second-largest city in Ukraine, Kharkiv, as well as the surrounding area, may experience emergency power outages, Synegubov said. Also reported were attacks in the southern Zaporizhzhia area.
Igor Taburets, the governor of the central Cherkasy district, declared that the enemy was striking Ukrainian land again.
According to the deputy head of president Kyrylo Tymoshenko, three persons were murdered by Russian strikes on Friday.
