All May 9 accused get bail in Rawalpindi

The bail requests of the remaining 19 accused of the May 9 attacks were also approved, resulting in no further arrests in 14 cases in Rawalpindi.

Judge Malik Ijaz Asif of the Anti-Terrorism Court granted bail and instructed all accused to provide a bail bond of Rs 50,000 each.

Furthermore, the 5 workers of the PTI who were granted bail by the Supreme Court were also released.

A total of 549 workers were arrested in the May 9 tragedy in Rawalpindi Division, with trials completed against 12 accused in 3 military courts – 8 in Rawalpindi cases and 4 in Abbottabad cases.

All the accused are expected to be released from Adiala Jail this evening, with police arrangements underway. These 19 accused had been in jail for 10 months since their arrest on May 10-12.
