Anne Hathaway hails Tom Cruise’s ‘Digger’ as brilliant

Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway has praised Tom Cruise’s latest film, Digger, giving it a perfect rating despite its reported struggles at the box office. The Oscar-winning star shared her first-ever review on Letterboxd, expressing strong admiration for the film.

Hathaway described Digger as a brilliant, ambitious and entertaining movie. She praised its unusual storytelling, humour and bold approach, encouraging viewers to watch it and form their own opinions.

“I loved this brilliant movie,” Hathaway wrote in her review. She described the film as smart, trippy, aggressive, funny and ambitious before giving it a final score of 10 out of 10.

Her positive assessment comes as Digger, directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, reportedly faces a disappointing theatrical opening. The film features Cruise as a powerful oil tycoon who prepares for a major ecological disaster. Despite its high-profile cast and ambitious premise, its early box-office performance has reportedly raised concerns about its commercial prospects.

Hathaway’s review sets her apart from the negative attention surrounding the film, showing that she was impressed by its creative direction and storytelling.

The actress also has a professional connection with Cruise on the horizon. She is expected to appear alongside the Mission: Impossible star in the upcoming Days of Thunder sequel. The project would bring the two Hollywood stars together on screen.

Meanwhile, Digger reportedly features two major plot twists intended to challenge viewers’ expectations and change their understanding of the story.

Although the film’s commercial performance remains under scrutiny, Hathaway’s enthusiastic review has added a positive voice to the conversation surrounding Cruise’s latest project.
