Anti-terrorism court grants interim bail to PTI Senator Shibli Faraz

An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad has approved interim bail for PTI Senator Shibli Faraz, requiring a bond of Rs 50,000.

Administrative Judge Raja Jawad Abbas heared of the pre-arrest bail application.

Judge Raja Jawad Abbas said that he is not the duty judge and will address the matter once a new judge is appointed. Initially, the bond was set at Rs 5,000 but after the accused fled, it was raised to Rs 50,000, a sum also approved for the bail of Ali Amin Gandapur.

In response, Shibli Faraz’s lawyer highlighted that Ali Amin Gandapur, being the chief minister, could afford such a fine, unlike them. However, Raja Jawad Abbas explained that without electricity, he couldn’t issue an order and instructed to obtain a written order by noon.

The court granted Shibli Faraz pre-arrest bail, securing it with a bond of Rs 50,000 until April 17. Previously, the pre-arrest bail was rejected due to non-compliance.

Senator Shibli Faraz faces a case registered at the CTD police station regarding the vandalism of the judicial complex. He sought pre-arrest bail from the Anti-Terrorism Court in Islamabad.
