MANAMA: Bahrain’s government has strongly condemned recent Iranian missile and drone attacks targeting Bahraini and Kuwaiti territory, calling the strikes a “flagrant violation” of sovereignty and a serious threat to regional stability in the Gulf.
In an official statement, the Bahraini Foreign Ministry said its air defence systems successfully intercepted incoming missiles before they could reach their targets. The government confirmed that no major damage was reported, but described the situation as highly dangerous for civilians and regional security.

The ministry accused Iran of violating United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026), which prohibits attacks on sovereign states and warns against any attempts to disrupt maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most vital energy routes.
Manama urged Tehran to immediately halt what it called “unjustified attacks” and demanded the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz without restrictions. It also called on Iranian authorities to disclose the locations of naval mines and assist in the safe evacuation of more than 20,000 sailors currently stranded across the region.
Officials stressed that Bahrain’s response reflects “patience, not weakness,” adding that the defence of national sovereignty remains a “red line” and that all necessary measures will be taken to protect the country.
Earlier in the day, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry activated emergency protocols, reporting that air raid sirens were sounded across parts of the country following the attacks. Citizens and residents were urged to remain calm and move to designated safe shelters.
Neighbouring Kuwait also confirmed that its air defence systems were engaged in response to what it described as hostile missile and drone threats, highlighting the widening scope of regional tensions.
The escalation comes amid a fragile security environment in the Gulf following recent military strikes by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets, which triggered a cycle of retaliatory attacks across the region.
Subsequent Iranian strikes reportedly targeted Israeli positions and US-linked military facilities, while shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz have raised global concerns over energy supply stability.
Although a ceasefire has since been declared, diplomatic efforts continue to prevent further escalation, as regional and global powers push for a broader and more lasting security agreement in the Gulf.
