BISP chief vows support for Ayat Noor’s family

ISLAMABAD: Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Chairperson Rubina Khalid has assured the family of five-year-old Ayat Noor, who was allegedly raped and murdered in Haripur, of full support in their pursuit of justice.

During a visit to Ayat Noor’s home, Rubina Khalid met the girl’s father and offered her condolences to the bereaved family. She said she had brought a message from Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari that the party stood firmly with the family during their difficult time.

Condemning the rape and murder of the child, Rubina expressed concern over the repeated incidents of violence and sexual abuse against young girls. She said such cases were deeply alarming and required stronger measures to protect children.

Rubina said weaknesses and loopholes in existing laws often allow suspects to exploit the legal system and escape punishment. She stressed the need to address these gaps so that perpetrators of crimes against children could face appropriate legal consequences.

She assured the family that every possible assistance would be provided throughout the legal and judicial process. She said the affected family would receive support in pursuing the case before the relevant authorities and courts.

The case has drawn widespread concern after the five-year-old girl from Haripur district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was allegedly subjected to sexual assault before being killed.

Authorities recovered Ayat Noor’s body from a well 15 days after she went missing. The discovery intensified public calls for justice and renewed concerns over the safety of children and the need for stronger action against sexual violence.

Rubina said protecting children should remain a collective responsibility and called for effective implementation of laws to ensure that victims and their families receive justice.
