CDF Asim Munir, Indonesian naval chief discuss defence ties

Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir on Monday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence and security cooperation with Indonesia.

He made the remarks during a meeting with Indonesian Naval Chief Admiral Dr Muhammad Ali at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two officials discussed matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the existing military-to-military relationship. They also agreed to further expand cooperation in professional training, defence collaboration and joint military exercises.

Admiral Muhammad Ali praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He also acknowledged their contribution to maintaining regional peace and stability.

Munir described Pakistan’s ties with Indonesia as longstanding and brotherly. He said Islamabad remained committed to further developing relations, particularly in defence and security.

Lebanese minister also meets Munir

Separately, Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmad Al Hajjar met Field Marshal Asim Munir at GHQ during his two-day visit to Pakistan.

The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, regional security developments and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the security sector.

The two sides also stressed the need to improve institutional links between their respective security institutions.

Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to closer relations with Lebanon. He expressed a desire to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in areas of common interest.

Al Hajjar appreciated Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability. He also praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and recognised their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
