Civil society nationalist parties protests against worsening law and order situation in Thatta

A sudden surge in the incidents of street crime compelled members of different political parties and social organisations to stage a massive protest in Thatta city on Thursday.

The annoyed protests bashed Thatta police over its failure to keep law and order situation under control.

Leaders of Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party and other political parties called growing incidents of robbery an onslaught on the peace of historically esteemed Thatta district. District President of STP Syed Jalal Shah said that the district police had failed to deal with the gang of street criminal that was operating in the district with complete impunity.

He disclosed that more that ten incidents of mobile and money snatching had been reported from different parts of Thatta district during the past two weeks but the district police had remained less-serious.

Haji Hassan Jakhro said that the elected representatives of the areas were busy in the celebrations of their victory acquired through unbridled rigging, while inhabitants of Thatta were under immense threat.

He urged higher authorities to take measures for restoring peace in the district. The protest followed by sit-in caused blockage of traffic on main national highway.

As soon as the crowd gathered at the main road SSP Thatta Aftab Ahmed Nizamani persuaded them to disperse on assurance of bringing law and order situation to normalcy.

He vowed to set up police pickets on sensitive routes of the district to curb the menace.
