LAHORE: The Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) recovered over 52 kilograms of narcotics during an intelligence-based operation in Sahiwal’s Sahoo Chowk area, officials said.
Acting on credible information, CNF teams moved quickly and intercepted a suspect carrying illegal drugs. They arrested Talha Aslam on the spot.
During initial questioning, the suspect revealed details about another vehicle linked to the network. Acting on this lead, officials traced a Suzuki car and recovered additional narcotics hidden inside it.
In total, the CNF seized 36 kilograms of charas and 16 kilograms of opium, weighing more than 52 kilograms altogether. Officials estimated the value of the confiscated drugs at around Rs9 million.
Authorities registered a case against the suspect under anti-narcotics laws and launched a wider investigation to trace other members of the trafficking network.
A CNF spokesperson called the raid a major success and said timely intelligence and swift action made the operation effective.
Officials believe the seized drugs were part of a larger supply chain operating across Punjab. Investigators are now following new leads to identify facilitators and additional suspects.
The CNF Director General praised the team’s performance, calling it proof of strong intelligence and professional capability. He said operations against drug traffickers will continue without interruption across the province.
He added that the force is working under the vision of a “Drug-Free and Safe Punjab” and stressed public cooperation in identifying criminal networks.
Investigations are ongoing, and officials expect further arrests as the network is uncovered.
