Cristiano Ronaldo to play in Hong Kong with Al-Nassr?

Pui-Kwan Kay, head of the Hong Kong Football Association, disclosed in an interview with the South China Morning Post that senior executives in the city are planning to bring Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr to Hong Kong in January 2025.

After their loss to Inter Miami, where Lionel Messi couldn’t play due to injury, the Hong Kong FA is considering appointing Cristiano Ronaldo, Messi’s main rival, to the team.

Discussing the possibility of Al Nassr playing exhibition matches in various cities, Kay mentioned the potential of sharing the costs.

While unsure if Al Nassr will return to China, he emphasized the appeal of bringing Ronaldo to Hong Kong due to his immense popularity.

Regarding organizational details, Kay mentioned that discussions are ongoing, and the HKFA may lead alongside other parties, but nothing is finalized yet.

Furthermore, Kay expressed intentions to involve clubs from the Portuguese First Division or Eastern Europe, but specifics about Ronaldo’s role were not provided.

However, he made it clear that inviting Inter Miami back is not part of the plans.
