The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced major relief measures for Pakistan’s business community, including the release of billions of rupees in refunds and rebates.
FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial and his team held a meeting with senior representatives of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) at its headquarters on Wednesday.
The FPCCI delegation was led by Senior Vice President Saqib Rafiq Magoon. During the meeting, the FBR leadership discussed key concerns raised by the business community and announced measures aimed at easing financial pressures on traders and businesses.
As part of the relief measures, the FBR has taken an important decision regarding the payment of Rs83 billion in refunds and Rs43 billion in rebates.
The decision is expected to provide greater liquidity to businesses and help address long-standing concerns regarding delays in the release of tax refunds and rebates.
During the meeting, FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial also assured the business community that the distinction between industrial and commercial importers would be removed.
He said the FBR was committed to addressing genuine concerns of traders and ensuring greater facilitation for businesses operating in the country.
The discussions also focused on improving coordination between the tax authorities and representatives of the business community. The FBR leadership assured FPCCI officials that relevant issues would be examined and appropriate steps would be taken to facilitate taxpayers.
The announcement comes as businesses continue to seek faster refunds, simpler tax procedures and a more supportive regulatory environment to improve their operations and investment prospects.
