Festival Shed’s Light on importance of Literature In Shaping Society

THATTA: 3rd Literature Festival organized under the aegis of Sindh University Thatta Campus she lights on the importance of holding literary gatherings and book reading. The event was participated by students, eminent literary figures , social activists and ideologists who eulogized the efforts of varsity for promoting literary activities in the historical district of Sindh.

Addressing the participants of the festival at Sindh University Thatta Campus stalwart historian and educationist Dr Abdul Ghafoor Memon said that Thatta had a glorious past but it has lost contact with the modern world following unavailability of facilities and the distance of youth from literature. ” Our girls are unaware of the modern methodologies of learning”; he claimed and added that they should be given equal opportunities.

Highlighting the importance of book reading he said that quality literature and habit of book reading would transform a remote society into a progressive society. Professor Dr. Arifana Malah another noted ideologist of Sindh observed that; Literature would divert our society towards decency adding that it would quell the differences sprouting in the society. ” We have to more practical to put Sindh on the path of constant progress”; She proposed.

These gatherings remind us the contributions of our heroes in the field of literature; mentioned Professor Arfana Malah and added that women of the remote areas of Sindh should come out of their house so that the objective of a progressive society could be achieved. Dr Muhammad Ali Manji spoke in favor of female education and urged concerned authorities to take measures for spreading the message of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai who gave the idea of shaping society positively. Book stalls, stalls of traditional foods and embroidery were set up to attract visitors. Towards the end students performed stage plays on different social issues.
