FIFA World Cup 2026, Japan hold Netherlands to 2-2 draw

Dallas – After an entertaining and action-packed contest at the FIFA World Cup 2026, Japan and the Netherlands played to a 2-2 draw. Another high-profile and exciting match of the tournament saw Japan and the Netherlands battle fiercely with neither side able to secure victory.

During the first half, the Dutch players appeared more alert and created several scoring opportunities. However, neither team managed to find the back of the net before halftime. The second half was much more lively with both teams launching repeated attacks on each other’s goal.

In the 51st minute, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk scored the opening goal of the match with a header from a well-delivered cross by Ryan Gravenberch giving the Netherlands a 1-0 lead.

Japan responded quickly and refused to let the Dutch maintain their advantage for long. Just six minutes later, Keito Nakamura fired a powerful shot into the net to level the score at 1-1.

In the 64th minute, Crysencio Summerville restored the Netherlands lead after an impressive individual effort inside the penalty area making it 2-1.

However, with only two minutes remaining in regulation time, Japan struck back once again. Daichi Kamada scored a brilliant header to make it 2-2 shattering Dutch hopes of victory. With the draw, both teams earned one point each in Group F of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
