In a deeply moving social media post, Bello wrote: “I’ll tell her the story of how you saved her, my love  how you gave your own life for our daughter, how you were a brave woman who never abandoned her, even as you took your last breaths.” The footballer, who plays for Deportivo La Guaira, expressed his grief and love for his wife, whose selfless act of heroism has touched millions across Venezuela and beyond.

Bello revealed that he had travelled to Caracas, where his daughter was receiving medical treatment following the earthquakes. He shared that both his daughter and her aunt were doing well but would remain in the hospital for observation. “My daughter and her aunt are doing well, they won’t be discharged today  they’re staying at the hospital. Thank you so much for supporting me through this immense pain,” he posted on Friday overnight.

In a separate Instagram story, Bello poured out his anguish, writing: “How do I explain to your daughter that you lost your life to save hers, and that I wasn’t there to do anything? How do I explain it? Give me strength now.” His words captured the profound sense of loss and helplessness felt by so many families affected by the disaster.

The earthquakes, which registered magnitudes of 7.2 and 7.5, have caused widespread destruction across Venezuela, with the coastal state of La Guaira among the worst-hit areas. At least 100 buildings, many of them residential high-rises, were destroyed or damaged, and hundreds remain missing as rescue efforts continue. The United Nations estimated nearly seven million people could be affected by the disaster.
