Former ISI Chief Faiz Hameed pressured me to resign during Faizabad sit-in, Zahid Hamid discloses

Former Law Minister Zahid Hamid revealed in the Faizabad sit-in commission report that former ISI chief Faiz Hameed and two other officers approached him during the sit-in, urging him to resign. However, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was informed of the offer and declined it.

According to Hamid, on November 26, 2017, two intelligence officers visited his home in Lahore and suggested his resignation, with Faiz Hameed also proposing a temporary resignation. Despite the offer, Prime Minister Abbasi chose not to accept it.

Former IB chief Aftab Sultan provided insight into the failure of the police operation against the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) during the Faizabad sit-in. Sultan stated that in November 2017, the police operation failed due to unclear orders.

Sultan further explained that the government had been advised to engage in dialogue with the TLP to persuade them to postpone their march. Initially, the police successfully dispersed the protestors, but as more protestors arrived from Rawalpindi, the police were forced to retreat.
