Health Clinic Manager dismissed over misconduct allegations

Kallar Syedan – The Health Manager of Maryam Nawaz Health Clinic Duberan Kalan, Dr. Haider Ali Shah, has been dismissed after an inquiry found serious irregularities, negligence, and carelessness. Following the proven allegations, his contract has been terminated.

Dispenser Muhammad Jahangir has also leveled serious allegations and demanded a transparent inquiry from the higher authorities.

During the inquiry against Dr. Haider Ali Shah of MNHC Duberan Kalan for gross mismanagement, irregularities, and negligence, the allegations were proven. As a result, his contract was canceled and he was immediately dismissed. Until the appointment of a new Health Manager, operations will be run through a mobile clinic under the supervision of DDO Health Kallar Syedan.

After taking charge of MNHC Duberan Kalan, Dr. Ali Haider Shah violated the clauses of the contract. He not only failed to ensure the appointment of required staff but also violated the condition of paying the minimum wage fixed by the Punjab Government to the existing staff.

There were also complaints against Dr. Ali Haider Shah of being absent during clinic hours. Assistant Commissioner Kallar Syedan also compiled a report during his visit and recommended an inquiry to the higher authorities.

Dr. Ali Haider Shah also transferred the ultrasound machine provided to MNHC Duberan Kalan to Nala Musalman without approval from the competent authority, causing difficulties for the citizens of Duberan Kalan.

Taking notice of the matter, the competent authority issued a show-cause notice to Dr. Ali Haider Shah and sought an explanation. However, during the inquiry he was unable to defend himself against the allegations leveled against him. Based on the available record and evidence, the Program Director canceled Dr. Ali Haider Shah’s contract and ordered him to immediately hand over charge.

Meanwhile, former Dispenser Muhammad Jahangir has demanded a high-level investigation, accusing Dr. Haider Ali Shah of harassing his wife, who worked as an Aya at MNHC Duberan Kalan, and pointing out several other serious irregularities.

Muhammad Jahangir alleged that Dr. Haider Ali Shah had patients administered expired injections and made bogus entries, such as recording one delivery as five deliveries. LHVs and security guards were not appointed, yet bogus entries were shown and their attendance was marked. He alleged that the biometric login entry of an LHV named Aqsa, who never came to the hospital, was being operated by the doctor.

“My wife, who was working as an Aya, was harassed. He told her to leave her husband and marry me, otherwise I will get you fired from the job,” he claimed. The former dispenser also accused Dr. Ali Haider Shah of personally handling ultrasound and delivery cases.

DDHO has forwarded Dispenser Muhammad Jahangir’s application to the higher authorities and recommended an inquiry.

The correspondent contacted the relevant doctor by phone to get his stance, but the doctor disconnected the call saying, “I don’t have time right now.” Therefore, his stance could not be obtained. If a statement is received from the doctor later, it will also be made part of the news.
