According to the latest price breakdown, motorists are paying Rs. 130.75 in taxes, levies and margins on every litre of petrol. The additional charges on high-speed diesel stand at Rs. 122.47 per litre.

The impact is particularly notable for diesel consumers. While the basic cost of high-speed diesel is Rs. 245.82 per litre, its retail price has been set at Rs. 368.29, leaving a difference of Rs. 122.47 attributable to taxes, levies and margins.

The figures highlight the considerable contribution of government charges and industry margins to fuel prices, adding to the cost pressures faced by households, transporters and businesses across the country.
