The father of Zeeshan Arshad, a domestic worker accused of assisting in the murder of Hina Javed in Rawalpindi, has denied the allegations against his son, claiming that investigators are unfairly portraying him as the main suspect.
“My son is innocent,” Muhammad Arshad said, alleging that the investigation had shifted its focus towards Zeeshan despite his claim that his son had acted under pressure.
Police accuse Zeeshan of helping Faisal Asghar, Hina’s husband, carry out the killing. Hina, 45, was found dead in the bathroom of her residence in the Lal Kurti area on August 21. Her brother subsequently lodged a murder case at the Civil Lines police station, alleging that she had suffered violence before her death.
The post-mortem report documented a fracture in Hina’s neck bone, injuries to her ribs and hip, and blood around her heart.
Police arrested Faisal and Zeeshan in connection with the case and also included Hina’s father-in-law in the investigation. Earlier police accounts alleged that Faisal had offered Zeeshan money to assist in the murder.
Muhammad Arshad said his son had worked at Hina’s house for around seven months before the incident. According to his account, Zeeshan told him that he woke up on the night of August 20 after hearing a disturbance during an argument between Hina and her husband.
Arshad claimed that his son had said Faisal was chasing Hina when he encountered the domestic worker and ordered him to catch her. Zeeshan allegedly refused to intervene in the couple’s dispute, prompting Faisal to beat him and threaten him with a gun, according to his father.
“Whatever he did was under coercion,” Arshad claimed, insisting that his son should not be treated as the main accused based solely on the allegations against him.
The claims represent the father’s account of the incident, while the police investigation into Hina’s murder continues.
