Nasir Adeeb’s shocking statement
In the viral interview clip, Nasir Adeeb revealed that during his search for new faces for a film, he and Younis Malik decided to visit Heera Mandi to scout talent.
He shared, “When we entered Heera Mandi, we were given a lot of protocol, and the girl’s mother warmly hosted us. However, after observing Reema for a while, we decided not to cast her.”
Adeeb explained his decision, saying, “Younis Malik asked me why I didn’t like Reema. I replied that while there was sweetness in her words, it was missing from her eyes. And if an artist’s eyes don’t speak, they’re not effective.”
He added, “However, respect and success are in Allah’s hands. Reema entered the industry and became a superstar through her hard work and dedication.”
Social media backlash
Nasir Adeeb’s remarks ignited public outrage with many criticizing him for disclosing Reema’s past. Actor Imran Abbas also voiced his concerns through social media.
Imran Abbas’s strong response
In a social media post, Imran Abbas condemned the growing culture of tarnishing reputations stating,
“It’s shameful how individuals, writers, and self-proclaimed intellectuals connected to the industry continue to dig up actors pasts and bring forward stories that can harm their current reputation especially for those who have moved on to a new life outside the industry and don’t wish to revisit their past.”
He emphasized, “Sensationalizing past stories can negatively affect people’s lives. Unfortunately, we live in an era where people thrive on spreading negativity and earn a living through such practices.”
Call for reflection
While avoiding naming anyone directly, Imran wrote, “If these individuals realized how their actions contradict our religious values and beliefs, and how Allah condemns such behavior, they would refrain from such actions in the future.”
Imran Abbas’s statement has been widely appreciated for addressing an important issue in the entertainment industry.
