Iran summons European ambassadors for assisting Israel

Iran took diplomatic action on Sunday by summoning the ambassadors of Britain, France, and Germany, seeking their assistance in thwarting the attack on Israel.

According to reports from the Iranian news agency “Tasnim,” Iran questioned the ambassadors regarding their countries’ stance on Tehran’s retaliatory attacks against Israel, which occurred following Israel’s bombing of its consulate in Syria on April 1.

The three European nations had previously condemned Iran’s drone and missile strikes against Israel, leading to Iran accusing them of adopting “double standards.” This accusation stems from their opposition to a UN Security Council statement, proposed by Russia, that condemned Iran’s involvement in Syria while also condemning Israel’s attack on the embassy compound.

A senior Iranian official in Syria defended Iran’s military actions against what they termed as “Zionist regime’s positions,” citing the right to self-defense outlined in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter. The official justified Iran’s response to multiple attacks, including the recent assault on the embassy.

In response to the escalating tensions, the G7 countries, comprising France, Germany, and Britain,  convened a video call on Sunday and anounced support for Israel.
