Is Karachi set for rain from September 14?

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh has issued an advisory in view of possible rainfall across several parts of the province from September 13 to 16.

Sindh Chief Minister’s Adviser on Rehabilitation and Relief, Gianchand Essrani, said that a spell of rain is expected in various districts of Sindh during this period. He directed the PDMA and Sindh Emergency Rescue Service 1122 to remain on high alert and ensure that all necessary arrangements are in place to deal with any emergency situation.

According to the adviser, rainfall is expected in several districts, including Tharparkar, Umerkot, Mirpurkhas, Badin, Thatta, Sujawal and Tando Muhammad Khan. Residents in these areas have been advised to remain cautious, particularly in low-lying and vulnerable areas.

Rain is also expected in Sanghar, Khairpur, Hyderabad, Tando Allahyar, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad and Jamshoro. The authorities have been instructed to closely monitor the situation and take precautionary measures to minimise the impact of heavy rainfall.

In Karachi, the weather department expects rain during the period from September 14 to 16. The possibility of rainfall has prompted the provincial authorities to direct relevant departments to remain prepared, particularly in areas that are vulnerable to urban flooding and water accumulation.

Gianchand Essrani directed all deputy commissioners and concerned departments to keep machinery, equipment and staff ready to respond promptly to any emergency. He also stressed the need for coordination among relevant departments so that relief and rescue operations could be carried out without delay if required.

The PDMA and emergency response agencies will continue monitoring the weather situation and coordinate with district administrations to ensure timely response during the expected spell of rain.
