Jeremy Renner joins cast of ‘Knives Out 3’ in first movie role since snowplow accident

Jeremy Renner, known for his role in the Avengers series, has been cast in Netflix’s “Knives Out 3,” marking his return to film following a snowplow accident.

Although Renner filmed “Mayor of Kingstown” a year after the accident, “Knives Out: Wake Up Dead Man” will be his first movie project post-recovery, according to Variety.

The movie, directed by Rian Johnson, sees Daniel Craig reprising his role as detective Benoit Blanc, with new additions to the cast including Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, Josh O’Connor, and Cailee Spaeny.

Scheduled for release in 2025, “Knives Out 3” has kept its plot and details under wraps, but Craig hinted that Blanc would face his “most dangerous case yet.”

The first installment of “Knives Out,” released in 2019, was a box office success, prompting Netflix to acquire the rights for over $450 million. The sequel, “Glass Onion,” debuted in 2022.

Renner’s involvement in the film comes after a harrowing snowcat accident at his Reno, Nevada home in January 2023, resulting in blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries.
