Pajero vs Toyota fortuner

Mitsubishi has introduced the fifth generation Pajero bringing back its famous SUV name with a modern design and stronger off road abilities.

The new Pajero is a seven seat flagship SUV built on an upgraded ladder frame platform based on the Mitsubishi Triton pickup. Sales will begin in Thailand,

while launches in Japan and Australia are planned by the end of March 2027.

Bold new design

The new Pajero takes design inspiration from Mitsubishi’s Xforce and Destinator SUVs. It features a wide front grille large wheel arches, high ground clearance, side steps and a rugged lower body.

The SUV measures 4,920mm long, 1,925mm wide and 1,910mm high with a 2,870mm wheelbase. It can also be fitted with wheels measuring up to 20 inches.

Spacious seven seat cabin

Inside, the Pajero offers three rows with room for seven passengers.  The second row can slide by up to 150mm and fold forward making access to the third row easier and creating more cargo space.

Higher trims offer leather seats a premium dashboard three zone climate control heated second row seats sunshades and extra storage.

Large screens and premium audio

Top versions feature two 14.3-inch displays while lower trims get 12.3-inch screens.  Mitsubishi has also kept physical controls for important functions.

All three rows have USB charging ports while higher-end versions can come with a 12-speaker Yamaha sound system.

Powerful turbo diesel engine

The new Pajero uses a 2.4-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel engine producing 204 horsepower and 480Nm of torque.  It is paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission.

Built for off road Adventures

The SUV gets an upgraded ladder frame with high strength steel for improved durability and handling.  It also has a double wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear setup.

With 230mm of ground clearance the Pajero is designed to handle rough and rocky roads.  Its off-road design also includes strong approach, breakover and departure angles.

Advanced four wheel drive

Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) system comes as standard. It works with traction control stability control and ABS to help manage power and braking across different wheels.

The system adjusts to road conditions and driver inputs helping the SUV stay stable on slippery and uneven surfaces.

A new chapter for the pajero

With its rugged body powerful diesel engine seven seat interior and advanced four wheel drive system the new Pajero aims to combine everyday comfort with serious off road ability. Its real world performance will become clearer once it reaches more global markets.
