John Cena shaves his head ahead of second hair transplant

Cena criticised the stigma around men's hair loss, saying he wishes he'd undergone the procedure a decade earlier.

John Cena is offering fans a rare and candid glimpse into the next stage of his hair transplant journey, sharing a photo of his freshly shaved head ahead of his second procedure.
The wrestler turned actor took to his official Facebook account on Monday to share the picture, revealing his bald head before undergoing his second round of Follicular Unit Extraction, commonly known as FUE treatment. “Round 2 of FUE Treatment and this time I went all in for best possible results,” he wrote.
Alongside the photo, Cena thanked the team behind his procedure, sharing an image of himself with the clinic staff who performed the treatment. “Thank you Ken Anderson and the staff at Anderson Center for Hair for accompanying me on this journey,” the 49 year old actor wrote.
Cena has been open about his hair transplant journey in the past, previously explaining to PEOPLE what initially pushed him to consider the procedure. He recalled seeing signs referencing his baldness, which encouraged him to explore his options. He described developing a regular routine that includes red light therapy, minoxidil, vitamins, shampoo and conditioner, alongside the hair transplant he underwent last November.
He also spoke candidly about the stigma surrounding hair loss treatments among men. “I hate the fact that if there wasn’t so much shame around it, I’d have gotten it done 10 years ago. I thought I was alone, but seven or eight out of 10 men suffer from thinning or baldness,” he said.
Explaining the procedure itself, Cena said it simply involves relocating a person’s own hair from one area to another. He added that he sees no reason to feel shame about undergoing the treatment, saying it had completely changed the course of his life.
