KARACHI: Panic gripped residents of Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Saturday after reports of intense firing and a loud explosion near Block 6 prompted an immediate response from police and other law enforcement agencies. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Mosmiyat Chowrangi, where security officials quickly moved to secure the area and assess the situation.

According to police, multiple law enforcement teams were dispatched after receiving reports of heavy gunfire and an explosion. Following the incident, major roads connecting Mosmiyat Chowrangi to Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 6, Kamran Chowrangi, and Chaman Iqbal Colony were closed to traffic. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took immediate notice of the situation and directed the Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Karachi Additional Inspector General (AIG) to submit a detailed report. The chief minister emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens.

Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar also sought an urgent report from the Karachi AIG regarding the incident. The provincial government stated that it is closely monitoring developments and will take all necessary measures based on the findings of the investigation.

Residents in nearby areas reported hearing repeated gunfire and a powerful explosion, causing fear and uncertainty. Many remained indoors while security forces continued search and clearance operations.
