Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah ties the knot again

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has reportedly married renowned Indian journalist and former television anchor Nidhi Razdan, marking a new chapter in his personal life just three months after his divorce from his first wife, Payal Abdullah.

Omar Abdullah announced the development through a social media post, sharing a photograph with Razdan and writing, “Yesterday marked the beginning of a new journey.” He also tagged his newly married wife in the post.

According to Indian media reports, the marriage took place nearly three months after India’s Supreme Court approved the dissolution of Omar Abdullah’s marriage to Payal Abdullah by mutual consent.

On July 31, 2026, the Supreme Court agreed to end their marriage after both parties reached an understanding to settle their outstanding disputes. They also agreed to withdraw pending cases filed against each other.

Omar Abdullah and Payal Abdullah married in 1994. The two reportedly first met while working at the Oberoi Hotel in New Delhi. They have two sons, Zahir and Zamir.

The couple had been living separately since 2009, while Omar Abdullah formally announced their separation in 2011. Their divorce was finalised through mutual consent earlier this year, bringing an end to their marriage of more than three decades.

Nidhi Razdan is among India’s well-known journalists. She spent several years working with NDTV, where she gained recognition as a television anchor and senior journalist.

Razdan has also been associated with major political and current affairs coverage during her journalism career.

Omar Abdullah’s social media announcement has brought attention to his new marriage, with the photograph and accompanying message marking the public disclosure of the development.
