Khawaja Asif: KP protest call driven by PTI’s power struggle

Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister called for protests to protect his position and get rid of former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur.

Speaking to reporters, Asif said there was no threat to the federal government. He described the PTI’s protest calls as part of the party’s internal disputes.

“Every person in PTI is fighting for his own survival or interests,” the minister said.

Asif claimed that only a few people in PTI were involved in politics, while others were focused on confrontation and violence. He said the party’s internal conflicts were enough to keep its members occupied and that the government did not need to respond to them.

The defence minister said the September 27 protest call was linked to an internal power struggle within PTI. He maintained that the planned demonstration was not directed against the federal government.

Asif also declined to comment on remarks made by Sindh Minister Sharjeel Memon, saying he would not respond to whatever Memon said.
