KP government raises house officers’ stipend by 15%

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a 15% increase in the monthly stipend of house officers working in medical institutions across the province.

The provincial Finance Department has issued an official notification following approval of the decision by the provincial cabinet.

Under the revised policy, house officers will receive a 15% higher monthly stipend. The government has also introduced an annual increase of 5% in the stipend to ensure regular adjustments in the future.

The notification stated that the decision to increase the stipend was taken by the provincial cabinet.

The revised financial arrangement will apply to eligible house officers working in institutions covered by the notification.

Autonomous and semi-autonomous medical institutions will be able to implement the revised stipend. Medical teaching institutions have also been authorised to follow the new arrangements.

The government’s decision is expected to provide additional financial support to young doctors during their house job, a period that forms an important part of their medical training.

The annual 5% increase is also expected to provide a mechanism for gradually improving the stipend without requiring a separate decision every year.

The Finance Department directed the relevant institutions to implement the revised policy in accordance with the notification.
