Peshawar: The official announcement for summer vacations has been made for all public and private educational institutions. According to the notification, holidays in middle, high and higher secondary schools will be from 15 June to 16 August.
According to details, the Elementary and Secondary Education Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has officially announced summer vacations for all public and private educational institutions across the province. A formal notification has also been issued in this regard.
The notification states that different regions of the province will follow different school closure schedules. In hot areas, primary schools will remain completely closed from 1 June to 31 August while middle, high and higher secondary schools will observe holidays from 15 June to 16 August.
In colder areas, summer vacations in educational institutions will be from 1 July to 31 July. The notification further clarifies that in plain areas, “summer camps” will continue in schools during June 2026 with strict timings and procedures set by the department.
Summer camp classes will be held from Monday to Thursday from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM for primary and middle schools while high and higher secondary classes may continue until 9:40 AM.
Primary school students will be taught English, General Science, General Knowledge, Mathematics and Urdu. Middle school students will study English, Mathematics, General Science and Urdu. For high and higher secondary levels, Science and Arts (Humanities) subjects have been included in the summer camp schedule.
According to the education department, school heads will be authorized to adjust subjects and class durations based on students educational needs. However, school activities cannot continue beyond 10:00 AM under any circumstances.
The notification also states that intermediate students will be exempt from summer camps only on days when their practical examinations are being conducted under the respective educational boards.
