Madonna could release eight songs recorded during sessions for her latest album, Confessions II, that did not make the final tracklist, producer Stuart Price has hinted.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Price suggested the unreleased tracks could eventually be shared with fans, without confirming when or how they might be released.

“You just never know, do you? The best thing about good songs is they never die,” he said.

“They just find a way to present themselves at the right time. And yes, I’m being cryptic, but that’s because I think that we still love this continuum idea that Confessions is really an extended moment of time that has different elements to the performance of it,” he added.

Price said the sequel to Madonna’s 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor was designed to look forward rather than simply revisit the past.

“If Confessions One is really about dancing as freedom, Confessions II is much more about confrontation and acceptance,” he said, describing vulnerability as a form of strength.

He also said the new album reframed confession as an act of courage rather than shame.

The album features “The Test”, a duet between Madonna and her daughter Lourdes Leon, who performs under the name Lola.

In an interview with drag performer Bob the Drag Queen, recorded in June and broadcast on iHeartRadio Live in September, Lourdes said the collaboration was her idea.

“I think that between a mother and a daughter in a relationship … there’s a lot of things that are unspoken. There’s a lot of love that is unspoken, but also a lot of tension and emotions that are difficult to put into words,” she said.

“A way that I thought would be easier for us to speak about these things would be maybe through art, which is always something that my mom and I have connected over,” she added.

Madonna has also described the song’s creation as deeply emotional, saying there were moments during the writing process when she felt like crying or hugging her daughter. She described recording the track as “magical”.
