Mallah community protests murder of youth in Thatta

Sit-in staged near national highway as outrage grows

Protest by Mallah community in Thatta on killing of young man

Members of the Mallah community, along with Mallah Ithad, staged a sit-in near a section of the National Highway, condemning the brutal murder of 25-year-old Riaz Malah. The incident occurred near the Shah Ganj shrine on the outskirts of Thatta city late Friday night when three unidentified assailants gunned down the young man.

Protesters express anguish and demand justice

Expressing their frustration with the local law enforcement and authorities, the protesters raised their voices in chants against the perceived failure to maintain law and order, contributing to a surge in criminal activities within the district. The protesters placed Riaz Malah’s lifeless body on the road, leading to a suspension of traffic for approximately three hours on both sides of the highway.

Refusal to disperse until justice is served

Despite efforts by concerned police officials to persuade the demonstrators to disperse, they steadfastly refused to end the protest until the arrest of a suspect identified as Ameer Kumbhar by Thatta police. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Thatta assured the community and local reporters that efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining suspects. He emphasized a commitment to conducting a fair and transparent investigation into the tragic incident.

As the Mallah community stands united in their demand for justice, the authorities continue their pursuit of those responsible for the murder of Riaz Malah, promising a thorough examination of the case to bring the perpetrators to account.
