ISLAMABAD: The Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI), Directorate of Revenue, has announced that property tax bills for the financial year 2026-27 will be issued to taxpayers within the next 10 working days
According to an official statement issued by the MCI on Sunday, the issuance of the annual property tax bills has been delayed because the Property Tax Billing System is currently undergoing an upgradation process.
The corporation said the modernization of the billing system is aimed at improving the overall efficiency and reliability of property tax collection and ensuring that taxpayers receive accurate and updated bills.
To provide relief to property owners affected by the delay, the MCI has extended the period during which taxpayers can avail themselves of the applicable rebate on property tax payments.
Under the revised arrangement, the rebate period will be calculated from the actual date on which the property tax bill is issued rather than from a previously fixed date. The decision means taxpayers will not lose the rebate benefit because of the delay caused by the ongoing system upgrade.
The Directorate of Revenue further clarified that the 5% rebate available for early payment will continue to be offered to taxpayers. The rebate will remain applicable from the date of issuance of the bill until the specified due date.
The department said the measure had been introduced to ensure that property owners have sufficient time to receive their bills, examine the details and make payments while retaining their entitlement to the applicable early-payment rebate.
The revised arrangement will apply to all major categories of properties located within Islamabad. These include residential properties, commercial properties, industrial units and institutional properties.
The MCI has advised property owners to pay their bills promptly after receiving them in order to benefit from the 5% rebate and avoid possible inconvenience associated with delayed payments.
Officials have also urged taxpayers to carefully review their bills after receiving them and contact the relevant Directorate of Revenue offices in case they require clarification or encounter any issue regarding their property tax assessment or payment.
The Directorate of Revenue has established dedicated contact numbers to assist taxpayers and address their queries regarding property tax bills.
Residents of residential areas can contact the department at 9252823 and 9253057, while taxpayers dealing with commercial properties can reach the relevant officials at 9252498 and 9252461.
The MCI said the upgraded billing mechanism was part of its broader efforts to make the property tax system more efficient, transparent and convenient for taxpayers.
The corporation also advised members of the public to obtain information regarding property tax payments and billing only through official MCI channels to avoid misinformation or confusion.
The MCI emphasized that timely payment of property tax is important for the continued provision and improvement of municipal services and civic facilities in the federal capital.
The corporation has therefore encouraged all property owners to cooperate with the authorities, collect their bills once issued and make payments within the prescribed period to avail themselves of the early-payment rebate.
