LAHORE: Medicines and medical supplies worth Rs2.6 million have reportedly been stolen from the emergency ward of Lahore General Hospital, according to hospital officials.
A hospital spokesperson said the theft involved medicines and other essential medical supplies kept in the emergency department. The administration has initiated legal proceedings and registered a case over the incident.
According to the spokesperson, the Assistant Medical Superintendent (AMS) filed the first information report (FIR) after the hospital administration discovered the missing medicines and equipment.
The FIR names the Emergency Department Director and a pharmacy dispenser as the alleged suspects in the theft. Investigators are looking into whether the two officials worked together to remove medicines and other supplies from the hospital.
The case has also raised concerns because one of the suspects had allegedly been dismissed from Jinnah Hospital around six months ago over a previous case involving the theft of medicines.
Hospital authorities have launched an investigation to determine the full extent of the loss and identify any other individuals who may have been involved. Further action will follow based on the findings of the investigation.
