Mir Raza murder probe expands as statements of 41 people recorded

The investigation into the murder of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza has gathered pace, with police and investigators recording statements from 41 people so far as they work to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death.

Investigative sources said the statements were obtained from Raza’s friends, business associates, guesthouse employees and other individuals believed to have information relevant to the case. Investigators have also compiled a list of people who owed money to the deceased as part of efforts to examine possible motives.

Authorities have obtained detailed information about the guesthouse where the incident took place. According to investigators, the property owner had rented the house to an individual through a broker, who subsequently rented it out to another person for use as a guesthouse. Statements from the people involved in the rental arrangements have also been recorded.

Investigators are conducting the probe under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, which allows relevant individuals to be called for questioning during an investigation. The inquiry is being conducted in light of two medical reports concerning Raza, while a geo-fencing report of the crime scene has also been obtained.

Officials said analysis of the Internet Protocol Detail Record (IPDR) and forensic examination of the smartwatch could take additional time. Investigators are expected to assess these findings alongside other evidence to determine the events leading to Raza’s death and identify those responsible.
