Naim Qassem rejects Lebanon-Israel framework deal

Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem has strongly criticized the proposed tripartite framework agreement, describing it as a dangerous step that could legitimize Israel’s presence in Lebanon and undermine the country’s sovereignty.

According to Arab media reports from Beirut, Qassem warned that the agreement could pave the way for the eventual annexation of Lebanese territory by Israel. He argued that accepting such a framework would weaken Lebanon’s national position and create long-term security and political risks.

Qassem also condemned efforts to link Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon with the disarmament of resistance groups. He called this condition unacceptable and said it would place Lebanon at a strategic disadvantage while rewarding Israeli policies.

The Hezbollah leader further claimed that the tripartite framework agreement no longer holds any political value following the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran. He suggested that recent regional developments have changed the political landscape and reduced the relevance of the proposed deal.

Addressing Lebanese officials, Qassem urged them to avoid decisions that, in his view, could push the country toward further instability. He called on the government to protect Lebanon’s sovereignty instead of making concessions under external pressure.

Reaffirming Hezbollah’s position, Qassem said the movement had endured the most difficult circumstances without abandoning its mission. He stressed that Hezbollah would continue its resistance and remain committed to defending Lebanon despite ongoing political and military challenges.
