The National Assembly is set to convene today at 5:00 PM with a packed 16-point agenda covering legislative business, financial matters, and procedural motions.

The session will begin with a motion of thanks on the President’s address, followed by the presentation of several important bills. Lawmakers are expected to deliberate on proposed amendments related to the electricity sector, the Pakistan Penal Code, and financial regulations governing institutions and recovery processes.

Federal Minister for Energy Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari is scheduled to introduce amendments to electricity-related legislation aimed at regulating generation, transmission, and distribution. Separately, amendments to criminal law will be tabled by the interior ministry, reflecting ongoing efforts to update the legal framework.

Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb will present legislation concerning financial institutions, along with semiannual and monitoring reports related to the Seventh National Finance Commission (NFC) Award. These reports are part of the government’s ongoing fiscal oversight and resource distribution framework.

The agenda also includes discussion on declining tax revenues, with a lawmaker expected to raise concerns during the session. Additionally, a motion will be moved addressing delays in the submission of standing committee reports, highlighting procedural inefficiencies within parliamentary operations.
